ACTIVITIES
TOWARDS FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY
APCU is engaged in promoting the establishment of Conservative Unions and holding Conservative Political Action Conferences (CPACs)
in Asia Pacific countries, creating a community of conservatives across borders, and bringing attention to issues affecting the region.
SUPPORT
I.Support for Establishing Conservative Unions
In order to promote pro-freedom and democracy movements in the Asia-Pacific region, APCU supports the establishment of Conservative Unions in each Asia Pacific country. Conservative Unions in each country engage in activism to grow conservatism, define conservatism, and win for conservatism.
GOALS FOR ESTABLISHMENT
IN EACH COUNTRY
2018 – Establish the Korean Conservative Union
2019 – Establish the Taiwanese Conservative Union
2020 – Establish the Indian Conservative Union
2021 – Establish the Philippines Conservative Union
2022 – Establish the Indonesian Conservative Union
Establishment of the KCU in 2018
Amidst the erosion of Korea’s liberal democratic system and appeasement to North Korea by the Moon Jae-in administration, conservative organizations across the nation gathered in Seoul in opposition. On May 21, 2018, these nearly 500 activists formed the United Liberal Democrats. At this gathering, the Korean Conservative Union (KCU) was established. The following persons were nominated to jointly chair the organization: Jun-Tae Jung (Former Deputy Commander of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command), Jae-Jun Lee (Former Ambassador to Russia), Hae-Gun Choi (Chairman of gyeong-yu-jog-hoe, dae-han-jeon-mol-gun), Jin-Hun Kim (Representative of Lawyers for Human Rights and Unification of the Korean Peninsula), and Kyung-Gae Hyun (Former member of the National Assembly). The following individuals were commissioned as advisers for the group: Mak-Dong Lee (Former Prime Minister), Suk-Soo Kim (Former Prime Minister), Kwan-Yong Park (Former Chairman of the National Assembly), and In-Duk Kung (Former Minister of Unification). In addition, the establishment of the KCU (Korean Conservative Union) was announced at the same meeting.
II.Provide support for holding CPACs
APCU supports other countries when they wish to hold Conservative Political Action Conferences (CPACs). At Conservative Political Action Conferences, keynote speaches are given by political leaders of the country, straw polls are taken to gage support for future leaders, and panel discussions are held to discuss the problems each country faces.
THINK TANK & RESEARCH
Conservative Ranking & Information Service
APCU also functions as a think tank.
APCU aims to create Conservative Rankings for government officials in the Asia-Pacific region to indicate how transparent and conducive to freedom politicians and governments are.
In addition, APCU aims to create a rating system for individuals and institutions that rates them based on their commitment to promoting freedom and creating economic prosperity. Another goal is to create a database of politicians, government officials, political parties, universities, media companies, and corporations in the region to make it easy to find information from a conservative or classically liberal perspective.
Through providing such a database, we hope to advance conservative activism in the region and create a network so individuals and groups can share their efforts with each other.
MEDIA STRATEGY
I.MEDIA PLATFORM
Most of the news from the U.S. that reaches Asian nations is limited to liberal networks like CNN. APCU aims to work with conservative think tanks and media platforms to provide news without a leftist spin. We hope to work not only with TV and video media but also with print media like The Washington Times, National Review, and The Hill.
